Red moths and green dragonflies.

by A warbler a day

The last couple of evenings I have had after-work strolls around Rooksbury Mill. The Kingfishers have been very active with lots of calling and flying rapidly along the river. I have also seen my first Scarlet Tiger moths this year. these are beautiful red and black moths that can be watched flying lazily over waterside vegetation. The highlight of this week was seen today, a Downy Emerald dragonfly. This metallic green dragonfly was spotted flying low along the bank of Mill Lake near where the paths cross. I’ve not seen this species in Andover before so I was please and surprised to find it today.
