A Bat in the Sunshine!

by A warbler a day

I spent all day in the office seated at my favourite where I could look at the moat and parkland. At about 2.30 my eye caught something fluttering under the trees. My first thought was that it was large butterfly like a Red Admiral. However as it flew past again I was amazed to see that it was a bat, almost certainly a Pipistrelle. It made half a dozen passes through the trees, some coming very close to my window. A very pleasant if brief distraction on an otherwise dull day at work!
