Quiet at Rooksbury Mill?

by A warbler a day

I spent a damp afternoon walking around Rooksbury Mill. There was only a few ducks on the lakes and hardly any bird song to be heard. The only things of interest were the Cormorant in its favourite tree, a couple of Goldcrests and my first Wren of the year. I was even informed that until shortly before I arrived 2 otters were showing well, but not when I was looking. I just was not going to be my day and then….. I spied a bird soaring over the reserve. Was it a crow, was it a Kestrel or Ssparrowhawk. No! It was a Peregrine. It did not hang around for long before heading south over the A303 but it was great to see it!
