Crookham Common

by A warbler a day

I spent the afternoon walking around Crookham Common. It was very quiet. Though I did manage to see my first Siskins of the year next to the Conning Tower car park, feeding on the ground under some birch trees. There was also a smart looking Goldcrest in a neighbouring bush, proudly showing off its golden crest. Later I saw a flock of 50-60 Lesser Black-backed Gulls on the largest of the pools. Then 3 stonechats on patch of gorse. All in all a trip that though short on numbers certainly had plenty of interest.
